Sleep Debt — Privacy Policy
· 1.0.1
This policy covers Sleep Debt Tracker & Coach (“Sleep Debt” on your Home Screen) for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
Sleep data from Apple Health
The app reads only the sleep records in Apple Health, such as those your Apple Watch saves, to calculate your sleep debt, sleep regularity and tonight’s plan. It asks for permission to save to Health only when you enter a night yourself, and then writes only that night; it never writes anything else. All calculations happen on your own devices. Your health data is never sent to us or to any third party, and it is never used for advertising or marketing.
iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch
Apple Watch keeps only about a week of Health history, so the iPhone app sends your recent nights and your settings directly to the app on your watch through Apple’s WatchConnectivity. On iPad, sleep data comes from your iPhone through Apple’s iCloud sync for Health, if you turned it on. The app itself stores nothing in iCloud.
Settings, notifications and widgets
Your settings, such as your sleep need, wake time, free mornings and caffeine habit, are stored on your device. The morning report, the bedtime reminder and the last-caffeine reminder are optional; the app prepares them on your device and iOS delivers them. Notifications can show your sleep figures on the Lock Screen; you can hide their previews in iOS Settings → Notifications. Widgets and watch complications read a short summary, your sleep debt and tonight’s times, that the app keeps in a shared container on the same device.
Sample data
If you try the app with sample data, it shows generated nights that have nothing to do with you. Sample data sends no notifications.
No ads, no tracking, no accounts
You don’t need an account. The app contains no advertising, tracking or analytics of how you use it. Its only third-party code is RevenueCat, which handles subscriptions (see Purchases). Apart from that and asking the App Store for prices, it makes no network requests of its own; links to scientific sources open in your browser. It does not track you across other apps or websites.
Purchases
Sleep Debt Plus is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your payment details or your Apple Account. The app asks the App Store, and RevenueCat, whether your subscription is active and keeps only that answer on your devices, so that widgets and your Apple Watch can show Plus features. Purchases are handled with RevenueCat, a subscription service: the app gives it your purchase and subscription status, a random app user ID that its software generates (not linked to your name or Apple Account) and technical details such as your IP address, device model and app version. RevenueCat never receives sleep or Health data, and it is not used for advertising. See revenuecat.com/privacy. Apple sends us sales reports that don’t identify you and contain no health data. The subscription is governed by Apple’s standard Terms of Use (EULA).
Your control and deleting your data
You can stop access at any time: in the Health app, tap your profile picture, then Apps under Privacy, then Sleep Debt. Deleting the app removes its settings and summaries from your devices, although iOS backups may keep a copy. Your sleep records stay in Apple Health, where you manage them. Nights you entered yourself can be changed or deleted in the app (Settings → Data → Add sleep manually) or in the Health app.
Not a medical device
The app is not a medical device. It does not diagnose or treat any condition, and its guidance is based on published sleep research.
Support, children and changes
When you email us, we use your address and message only to reply. The app is not directed at children. We may update this page when the app changes; the date above shows the current version. Questions and data requests:
